IVORY COAST CROWNED AS BAFANA BAFANA SHINES.

On 13th January 2024 Africa united under one Umbrella. AFCON 2023.

Ivory Coast weary of the task ahead as host nation had to strive to join the 6 Countries who have hosted and won the trophy.

From the front start the elephants looked shaky and left the group stage with boes from fans. Ivory Coast managed to qualify as the 4th- best third place team after a 4-0 humiliation.

The elephants got an 86th minute equaliser against the Lions of Teranga who were the group stage invincibles. Went ahead and won the round of 16 through Penalties.

With new coach in place after a short term inquiry of legendary Herve Renard backfired, the elephants had to play with one man down from the 43rd minute to edge out Mali.

The resistant Ivory Coast found themselves in the finals against the Green Eagles of Nigeria who beat them 1-0 in group stage.

Troost Ekong continued from where he left and gave Nigeria the lead. High flying Kessie netted the equalizer in the 62nd minute . Sebastian Haller scored 81st minute winner after a sublime assist from Simon Adingra.

This Year’s Afcon has been branded as one of the best tournaments with top notch officiating.

South Africa was awarded as the Fair Play Team with Their shot stopper Ronwen Williams getting the Goalkeeper of the tournament after an impressive tournament.

Troost Ekong, Nsue and Fae were also awarded as Player of the Tournament,Top scorer and Best Coach respectively.
